Many times our clients have asked the following question: How does Google Search Work?

I just launched my website today and then googled: “Stamford therapist CT”, my practice name, and my name, and website didn’t turn up. How do I get at the top of a search for my name and for a search for “Stamford therapist CT” or the other local therapist searches? Thanks!

Our Answer:

For a new website like yours, it can take two weeks for Google to find you new website. Once it does it can take another two to three weeks for it to index for your name “Becca Chodos, LCSW”.

Please wait a while for this to occur, then we can discuss specific keyword phrases that you are hoping to be found with. Most generic and competitive keyword phrases like “Stamford Therapist” require a fair amount of additional work on your part (or ours for an additional fee for implement SEO Marketing for Therapist).

Why Back Links Are the Most Crucial Part of SEO

What is a backlink?

A backlink is a link created when one website links to another. Backlinks are also called “inbound links” or “incoming links.”

Backlinks are especially valuable for SEO because they represent a “vote of confidence” from one site to another.

In essence, backlinks to your website are a signal to search engines that others vouch for your content. If many sites link to the same webpage or website, search engines can infer that content is worth linking to, and therefore also worth surfacing on a SERP (see explanation below). So, earning these backlinks can have a positive effect on a site’s ranking position and search visibility.

Some backlinks are inherently more valuable than others.

Followed backlinks from trustworthy, popular, high-authority sites are considered the most desirable backlinks to have, while backlinks from low-authority, potentially spammy sites will harm your SEO.

Not just any backlinks work, but back links form sites that Google respects and favors, sites that relate to your field is a must.

Google also wants to see websites that have been around for a minimum of 5 years. The back link sites that InSession owns are a minimum of 10 years old and some are 25 years old, this is why our SEO works so well. You can do everything suggested to achieve high ranks in google, but if you do NOT have at least 10 legitimate sites linking back to you, you will not rank highly in Google, end of story.

What does “Best practice SEO” mean?

In short, all meta tags (title & description), sitemap, alt tags, mobile readiness, website loading speed, and submission of your site for indexing in Google are properly executed.
